Online casinos in Egypt: the legal position
No. Online gambling is illegal for Egyptian residents, and enforcement is tightening rather than relaxing. Land-based casinos operate legally but admit foreign passport holders only, so Egyptian nationals cannot lawfully play in them either.
In February 2026 Egypt began blocking online betting sites as part of a crackdown on unlicensed gambling. Amendments to the Cybercrime Law have been proposed that would name electronic gambling explicitly and carry severe penalties, reaching life imprisonment in the most serious organised cases.

Online gambling is unlawful for Egyptian residents. Land-based casinos exist and operate legally, but they admit foreign passport holders only — Egyptian nationals are excluded by policy and identification is checked at the door.
What changed recently is enforcement. For years the law sat well ahead of any practical restriction.
